While my inability to run has really messed me up emotionally (I might say I’m teetering on the brink of a minor depression over it), I have managed to find some pluses to my situation.
Yesterday, for the second week in a row, I started my Monday, generally the worst day of the week, with an hour long, deep tissue massage. It was amazing.
Jealous? Not yet? Well wait, there’s more. . .
For the last two Fridays I have ended my week with an equally awesome deep tissue massage at the end of the day. That’s right. Second week in a row.
Monday morning’s at 8:00 a.m., my weary body gets beat to shit by one of the most amazing massage therapists I have ever met. (I’m sorry it took an auto accident for me to find her) And Friday’s at 3:00 p.m., my weary body again finds its way to the massage table to endure an hour of her work. Only difference on Fridays? She graces me with a deep tissue hot stone massage.
When I look ahead I see that I have two more weeks of this rotation and by the end of it I’m hopeful I will be released to run. By then, unfortunately, my addiction will be set and I will have no choice but to resort to fitting these two massages into my regular life routine. Yes. It’s that good.
What possibly makes it better? Well, yes, now that I think about it what DEFINITELY makes it better is since this treatment is a part of my recovery from the auto accident I am paying for nothing. . . .
Dr. Grant is back in my good graces. While the okay to run has not been given, damn if Dr. Grant wasn’t right about the benefits of massage.
Is it Friday yet?
Man do I feel you…I have the same issue with the same solutions..lol. Does this thing ever go away?
Good grief, I hope it goes away! I’m surely sick of it already! While I love a good massage (and I certainly DO), I would much prefer to simply be able to run. I hope your issue resolves itself soon!
I’m just getting back to running more than walking after a stress fracture in my hip. The three months totally off were torture, so I totally understand. I am jealous though. My Physical therapy was not anything like your massages! When I saw others in the PT room getting massage, I would say, “I want what she’s having.” It never worked though.
I’m glad to hear you’re running more than walking these days. Yay! I’m totally jealous of that, so I suppose your jealousy over my massage therapy makes us even 🙂 I would surely trade you if I were able!!!
